Confidence

I felt kind of bad yesterday.  It didn't turn out as good as I had hoped in the morning at church.  I go to church with positive attitude and full of hope and faith.  I was kind of disappointed.

But, this morning I prayed from my heart asking for comfort and direction in my life.  I read a chapter in a book entitled Trusting Jesus by Jeffrey R. Holland, an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I was reading the 18th chapter which is "Cast Not Away your Confidence".

Here is the quote:

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."  Hebrew 10:35-36

I need to remember this!

April 28, 2015 - The Little Things Mean A Lot

If you ever have a day that's kind of blah, and you're going through the day the best you can.  You are taking care of your responsibilities and volunteering.

Well, I had that kind of day!  I like to keep busy, but I also enjoy serving others.  I volunteer at my grandson's 1st Grade class at Orem Elementary.  His teacher's name is Mrs. Jeanne Vitters.  I spend about 45 minutes with Asher listening to him read and then I listen to other children read or supervise a game some of the children are playing or help them with a paper.

It was a lovely spring day and warm.  The children were anxious to get done with school and go outside and play.  Asher read to me a book that was assigned reading, but we didn't get to finish the story so I don't know how it ended.  I wonder what happened to the chicken that wasn't laying an egg after all the things the owner tried to do to make this chicken happy.

I felt like I wasn't making a difference in Asher's day or the other children's day.  But when I left the classroom, I saw Asher's mother and sister, London, waiting outside in the hallway.  London came up to me all on her own, took my hand, and whispered, "Do you want to come and play with us in the playground outside today?"  I was so tickled that she asked me.  I said, "Yes!  But first I need to get my car key from the office and then I'll meet you outside."  London said, "OK!"

I came outside and watched the two grandchildren playing.  Asher was kicking a ball and a friend, named Joshua, came along and started playing with Asher, kicking the ball back and forth.

What happened next surprised me!  London came up to me, took a hold of my hand, and said, "I want to show you something."  We walk over to the swings.  She gets on and starts swinging.  She swung for a very long time.  It was such a special moment in time to be a part of that little 5-year-old girl's life.  That made my day!

RootsTech 2015

It was a wonderful 3-day event!  I rode the Frontrunner to get to the Salt Palace Convention center and back home.  There was so much information to learn, to choose from and a lot of people.    When I walked into the class on Scandanavian research, who greeted me with open arm--my sister Diane.  We sat together and met later to go to a sibling dinner at Kent's.  Ger met us there.

Went to Zion National Park

We went to Zion National Park

It cost us $10 to enter this park and other national parks for the rest of our lives.  I guess it pays to be Seniors.

Went to a store and bought this rock -- Peradot Olivine on Basalt - it is very rare gem.

Bought this rock also.  This rock is Alabaster -- it is made from two minerals:  gypsum and calcite.

This is the 3rd rock I bought.  It is obsidian.  It is an igneous rock that forms when molten rock material cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. The result is a volcanic glass with a smooth uniform texture that breaks with a conchoidal fracture.

Third picture is called "Checkerboard Mesa".

Love the designs the layers upon layers make!

Virgin River runs through Zion National Park.

It was a beautiful day! We stopped at overlooks, took pictures and picked up a couple of sandstone rocks.  We left home at 8 a.m. and returned that night at 9 p.m.
